Week 1: Same Courses Different Classes

It's funny how you can teach the same course but each class be so different. One of my classes is filled with only 8 students. All I have to do is ask students to do their work and they do it immediately. Now I don't know if this will change, as for right now I enjoy it and I hope it continues. On the other hand I teach the same exact subject, but in the other class it's like pulling teeth in order for them to do work. I wonder why is there such a difference. I thought about changing up the pace from one class to the next, but that would be to difficult when it cam to planning, so it's best they remain the same. I think next week I'll try to do more things to increase classroom motivation and hopefully they'll do their work then .

Week 1

This was my first week picking up my classes. Since Enloe has 8 periods I will have to pick my classes up two at a time. But I'm not to worried about that becuase my first and second periods seem like they wont be to difficult; hopefully I didn't say that to soon. The only thing that I can preceive will be a problem is the difference in teaching style from me and Mr. Reeves. Today I gave students a due date to turn in work and some students were distrot that I gave them a due date, becuase Mr. Reeves didn't stress due dates. I also saw many students on their Twitter and Youtube when they should have been doing work. After getting them back on task, I was informed that they were allowed to visit these sites. Hopefully with time they will learn to adapt to the changes I will put in place.

Since I saw so many students already using technology I decided to use it for my benefit. To start up conversation with my students and build a repoire my first activty was for my students to tweet me things they are learning. They were also asked to email me things they would like to see done within the classroom and ways I could better support them. Most students were eager about using twitter because they had not used it in this way before. It was pretty rewarding to know that they were excited to do this activity.
